Rohit Sharma upbeat ahead of ICC World Cup 2015 warm-up tie

One of India’s premier batsman Rohit Sharma on Saturday declared that he has “recovered well” from his hamstring injury and is raring to go against Australia in the first warm-up game of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 being played at the Adelaide Oval, tomorrow.

Rohit, whose had scores of 264 and 138 against Sri Lanka and Australia respectively in recent One-Day Internationals (ODIs), suffered a hamstring injury during the opening tri-series game against the Aussies at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and took no further part in the tournament.

“I will be playing the warm-ups and am good to go,” Rohit said at the Open Media session of the Indian cricket team organized by the ICC.

Rohit confirmed that the three-week rest has helped him get completely fit for the match.

“I had issues with my hamstring but over the past few days I have been working on it and recovered well thanks to the medical staff. Injuries are part of the game and out of your control. What I can control is my confidence and preparations ahead of the World Cup,” said the talented Mumbai batsman, whose starts will be key to India’s fortunes.

Unlike his skipper and some other teammates, who decided to unwind at an ‘Adventure Park’ in the Adelaide outskirts, Rohit decided to stay back in team hotel and enjoy some lovely Italian cuisine.

“Adelaide has been like home now and we have enjoyed our time here. We went to the Vineyards and the beach and ate at lovely Italian joints. It is a wonderful place and the break has served us all well.”
