It seems the Indian Cricket team captain MS Dhoni’s daughter did not
wish to wait for another four years to see her father in action at the
World Cup.
Wife Sakshi delivered their first baby, a girl, around 4pm at a
private hospital in Gurgaon on Friday. The baby was due in March but was
born almost a month earlier- right on schedule for the World Cup.
Sources close to the family informed that it is a healthy child
weighing nearly 2.5kg. While MSD could not be present at the happy
occasion, both the set of grandparents were at the hospital since Friday
morning. Family sources said that MSD, who is in Australia for the
World Cup that starts on February 14, has been informed of the good
news.
The delivery happened through a c-section and both the mother and
child are doing fine. The couple had been consulting at Fortis Memorial
Research Institute (FMRI) for the past few months and was last spotted
at the hospital by HT during mid-November last year.
The family and friends of Dhoni at Ranchi expressed lot of happiness
after hearing the news. “This is second big good news for the family.
The first one was when Dhoni debuted for Team India and the feeling that
we have today is exactly the same," said his brother in law Gautam
Gupta.
Dhoni’s mother Devki Devi said that she doesn’t have words to express her feelings. Dhoni’s childhood friend Chitu said he was excited to see the girl child. “I am waiting for the couple to arrive in Ranchi so that I could see the new-born."

KR Banerjee, the first coach of Dhoni, said, “This is a good omen
because birth of girl child is considered to bring good luck for the
couples according to Hindu tradition. I am sure that now we would also
win the world cup."
Here’s wishing the world cup baby brings good luck to the Indian cricket team.
